Samaria continues to attract visitors for the joy of one of the world’s best sites for watching the enormous humpback whales as they frolic offshore. The whale-watching season runs from 15 January to 30 March. Punta Balandra, on the road from Samana City to Las Galeras, is a vantage point for watching the whales without having to get on a boat. If you don’t get the chance to go whale watching, the small Museo de las Ballenas has interesting information on the whales that pass close to Samana.
